Cultural Significance:
The Six Ding and Six Jia Talisman originates from the deification of Ganzhi (Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches) in the Pre-Qin period. The Twelve Divine Generals form the core of the Taoist guardian deity system, symbolizing the original power of Yin-Yang and Five Elements. The Six Jia are Yang deities, in charge of warding off external evil and commanding the vigor of Heavenly Stems; the Six Ding are Yin deities, responsible for guarding the inner mind and controlling the gentleness of Earthly Branches. Together they are called Ancestors of the Five Elements. The cinnabar version belongs to the Fire element, aligning with the principle of mutual generation among the Five Elements. Hand-drawn with cinnabar, the talisman’s energy is used for commands and exorcism, with a stronger effect, and can channel energy between heaven and earth.
